“Chocolate Skies” is taking shape.

I have 6 songs edited and ready to go. Here are a couple samples of two songs with percussion. There are 4 songs that are just hammered dulcimer and not all of the ones with percussion are going to be this heavy. My main goal is to have an acoustic sounding record with the percussion not getting in the way of the beauty of the hammered dulcimer.

I have enjoyed getting back to some of my arranging roots. Years ago when Donna and I first met, I was always creating songs that had “world” beats to them. At that point it was with keyboards, but still very much a part of who I was. I didn’t even think about it when I started adding percussion to this album but she smiled and said, “It’s good to hear you creating your sound again.” She’s a great sounding board for me. After I get the song done to my liking, I have her listen to it and tell me “yes” or “no”. She knows good music when she hears it and I’m just trying to make a record that you and I both really really like.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend and we’ll see you next week. I’ve got to get ready to play both today and tomorrow. I’m going to use my looper pedal at both shows this weekend. I’ve got some great songs to use it on. One might be next Fan Friday. “Celia” by Simon and Garfunkel.

I really like the percussion you have added to the Measure. My head's bobbing up and down and my feet are tapping.
